Austin Park is located between Marlborough Road and Courallie Avenue, Homebush West. The park is located on the Crown land grant to John Flemington on 1 January 1806. The land for the park was acquired and dedicated by the former Homebush Council as a public park in July 1928.
The park has also been known as Austin Playground. The park was dedicated in memorial to the late Alderman Edward Austin, Mayor of Homebush (1914-16, 1920-1922) at the meeting of Homebush Council on 19 September 1928. Austin was first elected in 1908 and served as an Alderman from 1908 to 1925. He lived in ‘Huon’, Marlborough Road Homebush which was located close to this park.
