Alderman [1960-1980], Mayor [1970-72], Deputy Mayor [1964]

Frank Zions OAM served on Strathfield Council from 1960 to 1980.  He was elected Mayor for the years 1970-71 and 1971-72.  He served as Deputy Mayor in 1972.  He was also a member of the Local Government Association Executive 1973-74-75           

Zions resided at ‘Halsbury’ 12-14 Albyn Rd, Strathfield and was the principal of Zions Pty Ltd, which produced wages and time keeping records.

Zions was a member of the Australian Labor Party and after leaving Strathfield Council, he was elected to Burwood Council in 1980. Zions received an Order of Australia Medal [OAM] and died on 3 December 1991.  Frank Zions Reserve, Mitchell Road Strathfield, is named for him.

  1. I am Hugh Manery Zions, eldest son of Frank Zions and Dr Mary Manery Zions. I lived in 12-14 Albyn Rd Strathfield with my parents and three younger brothers.

  2. Hugh, I do realise this has nothing to do with your email, however my name is Lauren Goss, I worked for your Dad and two Brothers a very long time ago.
    I was Receptionist, Secretary and Ledger Machine operator during the time I was employed by Zions Pty. Ltd. I have found information online about your Dad, but can’t find any information about his Brothers. Would love some information about them if you have the
    time.
