The first public park in the local district was Enfield Park. Enfield Park was over 25 acres in size and was located in the current-day Cosgrove Road, Strathfield South, which then was located in the west ward of Enfield Council. The park was proclaimed on 11 November 1893.
In 1912, the land containing the park was resumed by the NSW Government for railway purposes. Despite considerable public opposition, the resumption proceeded and the former Park became part of the site of the Enfield Marshalling Yards.
