3 Abbotsford Road Homebush is an interwar bungalow built in 1937.

Local and prolific builder Ernest Scarborough Barnett (1882-1950) acquired Lots 20 and 21, section 3 of deposited plan 477 (Village of Homebush Estate) from Horace Edward Silvester in February 1937[1].  Each lot had a 50 foot frontage with a 200 foot depth.  Ernest Barnett was born in 1882 in England and married Ellen Elizabeth Moyse (1882-1951) in 1906 and migrated to Australia in 1911.

Barnett applied for building approval to construct a brick dwelling of eight rooms at an estimated cost of ₤1100 on Lot 21.  Barnett is noted the builder as E Barnett & Son, 63 Burlington Road Homebush.  The house was numbered 1 Abbotsford Road and was renumbered 3 Abbotsford Road in 1954.

In June 1938, Barnett sold Lot 20, a vacant lot which is now 5 Abbotsford Road, to Anne Isabel Moyes[2]. 5 Abbotsford Road was built in 1939 for Miss Moyes by builders Hildtich Brothers. In July 1950, Barnett transferred ownership of 3 Abbotsford Road to his son, John Ernest William Barnett, of Homebush, builder[3].  Ernest Barnett died in November 1950.

In August 1973, the property transferred to Harry Hintze, an accountant and his wife, Dawne as joint tenants[4].  The property was then sold in 1982[5].
