Mayor of Strathfield 1997-1998

Deputy Mayor 1996-1997

Peter Smith served on Strathfield Council from 1991 to 2000 (2 terms) as an Independent.  He was elected at an ordinary Council election on 14 September 1991 and was re-elected at the 1995 Council election.

He was elected as Deputy Mayor in September 1996 and was acting Mayor for many months in the absence of the Mayor, Cr Eve Dutton.

He was elected as Mayor in September 1997 for a twelve month period.

Peter was a finance broker but best known in the local community for his outstanding community work across many organisations including Rotary and organising the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

Peter passed away in 2021 and will be greatly missed.
