Firth Avenue is located between Ada Avenue and Newton Road Strathfield. It is built on the 1841 land grant to Joseph Newton. Newton’s land came under the ownership of the Strathfield Land Company who subdivided the land into residential lots which was marketed as the Josephson Estate No. 1 in the 1920s. This western area of Strathfield was primarily developed from the late 1930s and after World War II. It originally featured many substantial architect designed residences of professionals and merchants and their families.
The street is named after John Robert Firth, Mayor and Alderman of Strathfield Council.
