A talk on the history of Parramatta River will be held on Sunday 26th October 2025 at the Ironbark Room at Strathfield Library. This is a free event presented by the Strathfield-Homebush District Historical Society with support of Strathfield Council. Everyone is welcome.

‘Nowies, ferries and marine villas” A look at the Parramatta River as barrier, transport link, boundary and object of desire. We will explore tool-making, food gathering, early punts, ferries and elegant houses looking out on the water and the impact of a series of bridges linking the centre of Sydney with the North Shore in the 1880s.
