The above photograph was taken in September 1930 and features George Hird (shown with no cap), a rider from Hurlstone Park and the winner of the Goulburn to Sydney Bicycle Race. George is with his father Richard Hird. His competitor was L. Petrie [on the right] surrounded with onlookers at the race finish at Enfield Town Hall, Liverpool Road, Enfield.
This race commenced in 1902. Enfield was the race finish in 1920–1922 and 1924–1936. See below report from the The Sydney Morning Herald, 15 September 1930, p. 14.
