The Sydney Stock and Cattle Yards were located at Flemington on Parramatta Road. This is now the site of Sydney Markets. A decision was made in the early 1960s to relocate the City Fruit and Vegetable Markets to this site. Despite significant protest from Strathfield Council which preferred the redevelopment of the site for residential purposes, the City Markets were transferred to Flemington in the 1970s. This site is known as Sydney Markets or formerly Flemington Markets.
