The Federation Walking Tour of Strathfield will be held on Sunday March 28 2010 from 1 to 4pm. The tour starts and finishes at Strathfield Council, cnr Redmyre and Homebush Road, Strathfield. This is about a 10 min walk from Strathfield Rail Station and there is plenty of on-street parking available also.
The tour will finish with afternoon tea.
The tour walks along some of the Strathfield district’s finest heritage properties and conservation areas along famous tree lined streets. The tour visits heritage conservation areas in streets such as Redmyre Road, Churchill Avenue and Vernon Street as well as viewing the historic properties of Santa Sabina College.
Commentary and a guide on the social and architectural history is provided.
Tours involve walking, so please bring walking shoes, hat and sunscreen. The tour may not be suitable if you have difficulties with walking. Regular stops will be made for rest and toilet breaks. In the unlikely case of heavy rain, the tour may be cancelled.
