PROPOSED ALTERATION OF THE NAME
Mr Alderman Allen asked if any thing definite had been arranged in connection with postal addresses with the proposed alteration in the name of the Railway Station at Homebush and Strathfield. He suggested that a letter be written to the Railway Commissioners asking that the name Homebush should be called Strathfield and Strathfield as the junction of this Queensland Railway should be known as the Great Northern Junction or whatever other name they chose. Mr Alderman Heyde thought that the Commissioners would not make the alteration suggested by Mr Alderman Allen and the further consideration of this was postponed until the next meeting.

Mr Alderman Allen then referred to his ??? relative to the alteration of the names of the suburbs now known as Homebush and Strathfield and again suggested that the name of Homebush be changed to Strathfield leaving the Commissioners to choose their own names for that of Strathfield. Mr Alderman Coward state that he had heard a great number of people speaking of the alteration suggested that if it was the consideration that any alteration of was made by the Commissioners as suggested to the Commissioners by this Council meeting would be held protesting against any thing of the kind.
Mr Alderman Fraser said that he would oppose any alteration of the names at present in use. He was persuaded that when the name Strathfield was substituted for Redmyre, it was most unwarranted. He knew that very serious difficulties would arise in the way of title deeds, which was described as being situated at Redmyre and now Redmyre was unknown. He thought also that nothing should be attempted in this direction unless at the special request of the Ratepayers and property owners interested.
It was then suggested by Mr Alderman Allen that a public meeting be called to test the feeling of the residents and he undertook to present a petition having for object the desirability or otherwise of the proposal alteration.

QUESTIONS
“Mr Alderman Allen said that he wished to again refer to the inconvenience caused by the name of the Municipality. He said he did not object to the name exactly but he thought some change should be made that either the Homebush Station be called Strathfield and Strathfield the Great Northern Junction in that the Municipality be called theMunicipalityofHomebush. The Mayor state that in his opinion something should be done in this direction and the Council Clerk was therefore directed to write to the Chief Commissioner in reference to this so that in the event of the receipt of a favourable rely the question as to the name be suggested be put the Ratepayers.”
