Kessell Square is a small neighbourhood park located opposite St Patrick’s College at the intersection of Marion Street, Shortland Avenue and Fraser Street Strathfield. The photograph above was taken in 1947.
The park was laid out as a public reserve in the subdivision of the Crown of Strathfield Estate in 1923.
Kessell Square was named for Arthur Kessell. Kessell served as an Alderman from 1917 to 1944 and was Mayor in 1919-1920.
