The above photograph is of 77 Newton Road was taken in 1939. The house was built on an extension of the Josephson Estate and land marketed as ‘Super Land’.
An application to build this house was approved in 1937 at the estimated cost of £1100 for its owner Alfred Henry Whaling, a traveller, of Burwood. The house was built by builder J A Scott of Five Dock.
The house was sold to James and Myrita Munroe in July 1938 for £1395. The Munroe’s resided in this home until at least the 1950s.
